      @saronyitbarek this is a great thread asking great questions. programming is still the most thrilling, most expressive part of my life 20 years in. its what i lose sleep over, its what i think about when im not doing it, its what i talk excitedly about to strangers. still deeply in love.

    @saronyitbarek i do talk often about how little i know, but thats less self-deprecation and more humility. like a lot of other computer science men i was pretty drunk with power by the time i graduated, and thats not healthy. the better you get the more you realize there's so much you dont know

      @saronyitbarek doing it for money can be demoralizing. in my experience theres a direct correlation between how lucrative a job is and how boring the technology or how meaningless the product is. i have the privilege to work on a ton of weird open source projects that balance that out.
