      this is a sketch of github.com/clojure/clojure-clr/blob/master/Clojure/Clojure/Lib/Numbers.cs, which is ~3K SLOC that need to be maintained by hand

        MAGE is capable of generating arbitrary bytecode, you could rewrite the data structures & runtime in it and take a step towards self hosting
