i realized the kind of tech short form blogging i want to do: a publicly viewable monologue with myself as i debug and build things
-
so much of the insanely useful arcane technical details i know is from forum posts/stack overflow where askers had similar issues
-
with low level stuff, i find myself in situations dealing with stuff that is 1) poorly documented and 2) not asked about online
-
e.g. compiling Mono 2.6 on OSX for 64bit Ahead of Time compilation, or compiling stuff for a jailbroken kindle
-
i am able to arrive at solutions by stitching together fragments/reading source code/bashing head, but that journey doesn’t exist anywhere
-
sometimes knowing what didn’t work for someone is as valuable as knowing what did…
-
interests spread out enough that i am not on any one forum a whole lot, plus i am shy and i prefer/enjoy figuring things out myself if i can
-
so a publicly visible, google findable, personal forum where i ask and answer my own questions is kind of what i want?
-
i know i know… yet another tech community which is 100% straight dudes, which sucks, but it will be 100% arab muslims so thats not bad
-
this is kind of what twitter has been, but i want something less ephemeral
