🚨 release 🚨 originally a backer reward for the @wondervillenyc kickstarter, ive removed all antagonists from the public release to mourn the destruction of Beirut caused by the port explosion 40 days ago. all proceeds go towards the reconstruction✌️🏽 nasser.itch.io/restricted-airspace

Restricted Airspace was inspired by the deep, panicked fear i always had that Beirut would be destroyed one day, that everything i knew would go up in smoke. in the game you fight to defend a Levant-style city from destruction, but you never can. you can only delay the inevitable
-
the fear that inspired the game is carried by so many Lebanese people. every time id go back home i would be amazed and grateful that it was all still there. 40 days ago my fears came true. when i go home next, not everything will still be there.
-
coincidentally august was the month i was scheduled to publicly release the game. it felt disrespectful and wrong to put out a nihilistic game with screenshake and black smoke rising over a dream of Beirut after what had happened, so i just removed all the bad things.

so its kind of a walking simulator in a plane now, i guess. idk. if youre into lo-fi graphics or if you want to send some money towards the reconstruction, check it out ❤️

cherish the things you love, the places you love, the people you love. its all temporary. it wont all go out in a bang, but it will all go, and it will hurt. it will hurt because it mattered. there's never enough time, but be present with each other and enjoy the time you have ❤️
