        @yvanscher I don't know how else to describe this administration's consistent disregard for the letter and the spirit of American law. also, I would caution against falling into the trap of accepting things that are technically legal but done against the interests of people and in bad faith

      @yvanscher just about every Lebanese president has extended their term through a constitutional amendment. technically, that was all legal, but in reality it is an exercise of flagrant corruption and a disregard for a national institutions.

    @yvanscher similarly it wasn't illegal for McConnell to block Garland's appointment the way he did, but its legality doesn't make it any less of a subversion of American democracy.
