    @jwymanm That's only evidence of capitalism's oppression, not its ability to foster innovation. The only projects that survive are ones that are aligned with capital. The market is completely incapable of supporting entire categories of important and interesting OSS.

      @jwymanm put another way: OSS survives in the market not by its usefulness, it's ability to advance the field, or even it's technical merits, it survives solely by its ability to turn money into more money which is the societal filter that capitalism puts on everything.
