      @v21 in my case I am targeting the common language runtime so the compiler has platform independence in that respect.

    @v21 I guess "intermediate representation" makes me hesitate a little bit because the CLR calls its bytecode the "Common Intermediate Language"... but the word "intermediate" is relative my definition, so maybe I just need to get over it.
