@Alex_Clay_ i figured it out! i dont think fontstruct populates the opentype lookup tables correctly, and according to fontstruct.com/faq/59/technical_questions/what_about_non_latin_fonts_arabic_hebrew_etc they only have partial support for non-latin fonts. i was able to fix it in fontforge. needs work, like the لا ligature, but its close!
