        they do a good job of reminding the reader that every language -- including English -- is fucking weird, and Arabic's weird parts are not categorically weirder, just different from what you might be used to. Arabic isn't "hard" while English is "easy" and i appreciate that a lot.

      and theyre asking the important questions! this is the *first* thing i ask whenever someone tells me about Arabic lessons. their conclusion to teach a casual Modern Standard Arabic is a reasonable one, too
