  1. my favorite thing about rahbani plays is that many take place in an unspecified fictional lebanese village at an unspecified fictional point in the past. Sahriyyeh was written in 1973 and the fashion is a smear of western suits and traditional lebanese garb. i love it so much.

              this isnt really a musical of substance, but rewatching parts of it now i realize its about an old man afraid of losing power and holding an illegitimate election to assert his right to remain where he is
